Heidelberg Materials further reduces European capacity

HM Hanover

Heidelberg Materials announced in a new masterplan the additional reduction of clinker capacity in Europe. While in a first wave from 2022 to 2025 the clinker capacity in Europe has been reduced by about 13% with plant closures in France (Beffes, Villiers), Germany (Leimen, Hanover (photo)) and Spain (Anorga), in the period from 2026 to 2030, in a 2nd wave, 12 to 17% of additional reduction is projected (base 2021). For the 2nd wave an extensive analysis work has been completed with a focus on efficient clinker plants, linked to a network of grinding centers and distribution terminals.
