Heidelberg Material’s Airvault plant in France will be one of Europe’s cement plants with the lowest CO2 footprint by 2030. Now, the first step nears completion with the installation of the new kiln 6 with 4000 tpd clinker capacity, which will replace two older semi-wet kilns (we reported here 14. March 2024). The new kiln system from thyssenkrupp Polysius is under installation, after finishing a new crusher and vertical mills. In the first 3 months in 2026, Brazil’s cement dispatch increased by 1.8% to 15.943 Mt, after 15.661 Mt in the same period last year and 14.685 Mt in the year before.
LATCEM is a new cement player in Brazil and Argentina
LATCEM obtained the control of two major Latin American TOP cement players simultaneously, Intercement in Brazil and Loma Negra in Argentina (We reported here 25.07.2025, photo Amali cement plant). The Consortium has been formed by Marcelo Mindlin’s Pampa Energia, alongside Redwood Capital Management and Moneda–Patria Investments and injected US$110M in fresh capital to seal the restructuring of the two cement players. The new ownership includes: LATCEM: 38.7%, Redwood Capital: 26.7%, Moneda–Patria: 24.0%, Cigna Health and Life Insurance: 4.9%. After nearly twenty years under Brazilian control, a majority stake is shifting back to an Argentine-led consortium.
