As part of its ongoing capacity expansion program, India’s UltraTech commissioned an additional 1.8 Mta capacity in Sonar Bangla in West Bengal (photo), Durgapur in West Bengal and Karur in Tamil Nadu, each with 0.6 Mta grinding capacity. With the acquisition of The India Cements Limited, UltraTech’s cement capacity has increased to 171.1 Mta, on a consolidated basis. Upon completion of the ongoing expansion projects and the acquisition of Kesoram Cement (10.75 Mta), UltraTech will achieve the milestone of more than 200 Mta cement capacity in the country by the end of FY27.
