Dangote Industries has announced plans for a 2nd cement production line in Ethiopia. The investment is about US$ 400m to double the existing capacity of the Mugher plant from 2.5 to 5.0 Mta. Until last year, the Mugher production line (photo), which is less than 90 km from capital Addis Ababa, has been the largest cement plant in the country. Dangote Cement is Sub-Saharan Africa’s leading cement company, with a production capacity of 52.0 Mta across ten countries. The company plans to expand its capacity by about 12.0 Mta in the coming years.
