A Conseil of National Experts in Algeria is proposing 3 green cements projects. The d’Adrar cement plant with 1.0 Mta capacity (photo), which is part of national GICA (Groupe Industriel des Ciments d’Algérie), shall be expanded by a 2nd 1.5 Mta line. Furthermore 2 new greenfield plants are proposed. One 1.5 Mta plant in Djelfa and 2.0 Mta in Reliziane. Algeria has already a surplus cement capacity of more than 12 Mta. However, to increase cement exports the new plants shall focus on the production of green cement. No timetable and potential projects partners have been announced yet.
