CIMERWA Plc had signed a quarry license agreement with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and the Rwanda Mines, Gas and Petroleum Authority (RMB) which allows them to invest $190 million (over Rwf273 billion) to build a ‘clinker’ factory in Musanze District. The proposed plant shall have a clinker capacity of 0.72 Mta and shall be operational within two years (photo of existing CIMERWA cement plant). The new plant will help to reduce cement and clinker imports, help to create jobs and contribute to Rwanda’s infrastructure development plan.
