
Bamburi Cement has signed an EPC contract with China’s Sinoma CBMI for the construction of a 1.6 Mta clinker manufacturing plant in Matuga, Kwale County in Kenya. The company is part of the Amsons Group a diversified conglomerate in Tanzania and one of East Africa’s largest cement manufactures with a cement capacity of 3.2 Mta with the Mombasa and Nairobi plants (photo) in Kenya. The new clinker line shall be equipped with low-emission technologies and a 6-stage pre-calciner system to reduce the countries clinker imports. The facility shall be operational in 2027.
