
The Amsons Goup, a main industrial conglomerate in East Africa, will inject via Kalahari Cement the amount of US$ 201.7m into Kenya’s East Africa Portland Cement PLC (EAPC) to quadruple its cement output. Kalahari Cement, a subsidiary of Amsons Group, holds a controlling 69% stake in EAPC (photo EAPS’s Athi River cement plant) and informed that the funding will support both financing and equipment modernisation to raise capacity from about 1.3 Mta to almost 4.0 Mta capacity. The project shall be implemented in two phases with an energy efficient grinding and clinkerisation plant. The capacity expansion in the country is in line with the massive infrastructure and housing targets.
