Holcim made a strategic investment in Norway’s Capsol Technologies to support their decarbonization roadmap with a wide range of technologies. Capsol is a listed Norwegian company specializing in carbon capture technologies. The company’s post-combustion carbon capture and heat recovery system can deliver superior efficiency by using a proven and safe hot potassium carbonate solvent (HPC) (photo: test at Holcim’s Dotternhausen plant). HPC technology is a mature, energy-efficient chemical absorption process to remove CO2 from gas streams, that is widely applicable in post-combustion carbon capture. With the investment Holcim also aims to implement the Capsol technology to advance its decarbonization roadmap and drive profitable growth.
