Holcim Philippines commissioned a new AFR handling and dosing system at their ‘La Union’ cement plant in Bacnotan (photo) on the island of Luzon, a 4h 30m drive north from Capital Manila. The project comprises the installation of a 1,440 m2 storage hall and a new 20-30 t/h capacity alternative fuel (AFR) conveying and dosing system. The system will allow to increase the thermal substitution rate of the plant from 6% to 37%, which drives cost savings, reduces scope 1 emissions and also contributes to Holcim’s sustainability targets.
