ZKW Otterbein is investing about €30m for their NovaCEM 2027 low-carbon cement programme. The investment package includes the installation of a modern cement grinding facility at their cement and lime works in Großenlüder-Müs in Germany. Core technology is a state-of-the-art 115 t/h VRM vertical roller mill from Loesche, which can grind various materials, separately in an energy-efficient ‘swing mode’. The company aims to produce new 60% clinker-reduced cement grades compared to conventional Portland cements and reduce the electricity consumption by 20%. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, commissioning of the new facilities is planned for 2027.
