CCB in Belgium, a member of Cementir Holding, announced the acceleration of its CCBeNETZERO CCS project at the Gaurain-Ramecroix 2.3 Mta capacity cement plant. With the decarbonisation project, CCB plans to capture and transport up to 1.2 Mta of CO₂ from the 1.65 Mta clinker line with the goal of net-zero clinker production by 2032. The project started in 2022 with the evaluation of various capture technologies by research partners SNAM and Polimi (Politecnico di Milano) including partial Oxyfuel with chemical absorption using amines and chilled ammonia. The captured CO2 is intended to be transported via Fluxys, the future operator of the Walloon and Flemish regional CO₂ transport networks.
