CemVision from Sweden has signed a contract with LKAB Minerals for its first low carbon cement ‘Re-ment’. This product consists of two recycled cement binders from industrial waste and avoids most of the CO2 from the traditional cement production, but also the extraction of virgin limestone. In 2022, CemVision closed a €2.5 m funding round with Polar Structure, Backing Minds, EQT Foundation and PEAB as investors and is actually funded by Bill Gates’s Breakthrough Energy programme. Pilot deliveries by CemVision to LKAB are scheduled to start in March 2024.
