Holcim announced to invest in US Sublime Systems to scale up innovative low-carbon cement technology. The investment covers Sublime Systems’ commercial manufacturing facility in Massachusetts, giving Holcim a large share of Sublime CementTM produced there, through a binding off-take reservation and rights to co-develop future large scale plants. Sublime Systems is a low-carbon cement start-up (we reported here) reinventing the full cement manufacturing process, bases on a propriety CO2-free electrochemical system, which uses carbon-free raw materials for cement production. The first plant shall produce 0.03 Mta cement in 2026.
