Holcim in Europe is using Neustark for CO2 removal

Holcim CO2 storage facility

Holcim Central Europe West and Swiss newcomer Neustark are jointly commissioning 14 plants for the removal of CO₂ in Switzerland, Germany, Italy and France. Lafarge France, part of the Holcim Group, will use the technology in the Gennevilliers granulats facility, where about 1 kt CO2 per year from biogas plants shall be permanently stored in recycled concrete aggregates (photo: CO2 storage facility at a Holcim location). The companies claim this is a negative CO2 emissions technology (NET). However, this is controversial, because NET CO2 can be achieved from permanent removal of CO2 in the air, but not from industrial plants where CO2 is generated.
