The UK-based Breedon Group announced a huge solar project in its Kinnegad cement plant in Ireland’s Westmeath county. The solar project shall be completed by 1.Q 2025 and provide 14 MWe on a 17.5 hectare large solar site. Project partner is Grange Solar, a provider of solar installation services. The solar power facility shall make the cement plant self-sufficient for its energy use during peak solar times and is in line with Breedon’s 2030 goal of reducing the carbon intensity per t / cementitious material by 30%.
