Cemex Ventures aims to accelerate the growth of US-startup Terra CO2, by linking it with Cemex’s vast network and resources. Terra CO2 is a Colorado-based company that has developed a scalable, low-carbon alternative for replacing cement in concrete. The product OPUS SCM is an engineered supplementary cementitious material (SCM) that can be locally produced to address the fly ash shortage. It is derived from plentiful, cost-effective silicate rock feedstock and can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 70% when partly replacing clinker. OPUS Zero is a full substitute for clinker, resulting in true zero CO2 emissions.
