China’s West China Cement (WCC) announced the acquisition of the total equity interest of Afrisam. This move will further expand the company’s expansion strategy in Africa (we reported here 5.1.2026). AfriSam is the leading black-controlled construction materials group in Southern Africa, with operations in South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini. The company has a cement production capacity of 4.5 Mta from several operation (photo Vanderbijlpark Slagment operation), which adds significant capacity to WCC.
