Cimentos de Moçambique has tripled the cement production capacity of its factory in Nacala (photo) from 0.39 to 1.2 Mta by installing a kiln line and increasing the grinding capacity. The investment costs for the plant in the Northern Province of Mozambique has been about US$ 110m. Clinker imports will be completely stopped. The expanded cement production is for the country’s northern region, and optionally for exports to Comoros and Madagascar. In addition to the new kiln line, a jetty has been built, which allows economical ship transports in the region. The plant is owned by the Huaxin Cement Group, who acquired the plant assets from InterCement (we reported here 23. Dec. 2023).
