EMC Cement plans to install a carbon-zero 1.2 Mta cement plant in the Port of Amsterdam, Netherlands, together with HES International, a dry bulk handling company. EMC is a supplier of low-carbon cements based on natural volcanics. The all-electric plant shall be strategically located at HES’s bulk terminal with direct access to rail, truck, sea and canal systems. To accelerate the market introduction, a smaller EMC facility will be installed on the HES site during the main plant construction, which shall be finished at least in 1.Q 2026. EMC cement can substitute 70% of the Portland cement used in concrete.
