Germany’s Aumund to launch electrical clay calcination

Aumund eLCC 1

AUMUND Fördertechnik plans the market launch of a new electrified ‘Linear Calcination Conveyor (eLCC) in Rheinberg in Germany in November for the production of LC3 cements from calcined clay. The system has been developed in cooperation with the HOLCIM Group, based on Aumund’s robust pan conveyor technology and more than two decades of expertise in conveying hot materials. The eLCC technology is perfect for clay calcination, which requires a precise temperature control at 750-800 °C – significantly lower than in clinker production. The technology allows a compact and insulated design combined with closely arranged heating elements in the calcination zone for intensive heat transfer. The thermal efficiency shall be higher than in alternative clay calcination systems.
