Heidelberg Materials and Linde are building the world’s first large-scale CCU facility in the Lengfurt cement plant in Germany. With the ‘Capture-to-Use’-project (CAP2U), the two companies have established a joint venture to build and operate a carbon capture and liquefaction plant, which is expected to go into operation in 2025. The captured CO₂ of 0.07 Mta from the cement production shall be utilised as a valuable raw material for industrial applications. The building permit has been received (we reported here 13.04.2024).
