Heidelberg Materials signed a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract with the Fluor Corporation for its GeZero CCS-project in Geseke in Germany, where a second generation new oxyfuel kiln for the capture of 0.7 Mta will be installed (illustration). Fluor will be responsible for the design integration from the captured CO2 and processing in a newly built CO₂ purification and liquefaction plant for transport and subsequent intermediate storage for rail loading. The project has been funded with € 191m (we reported here 18.12.2023 and 13.07.2023). Construction of the facility will start in 2026, and commissioning is planned for 2029
