Holcim Croatia started KOdeCO project at Koromačno plant

Holcim Kodeco1

Holcim in Croatia started the KOdeCO carbon capture and storage (CCS) project for the complete CO2 reduction of the Koromačno cement plant. Over the years from 1997 the CO2 emissions of the plant have already been reduced as much as 42%. The CCS project will capture 0.366 Mta CO2 through absorption end-of-pipe technology, using Air Liquide’s Cryocap™ FG non-intrusive carbon capture and liquefaction technology. Liquified CO2 shall be injected in depleted oil & gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea. The project costs are € 237m, of this € 117m are funded by the EU (we reported here June, 17, 2023). The CCS project shall be operational in 2028.
