A trio by Holcim in Spain, IGNIS P2X and Exolum have launched Eco2fly, a project to convert captured CO₂ emissions into sustainable aviation fuel at Holcim’s Toledo plant (photo). The project is designed to capture over 0.7 Mta CO2 during cement production. Part of captured and cleaned CO2 will be combined with green hydrogen produced from renewable energy to be converted into sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF), reaching an estimated production of 0.1 Mta fuel. The remaining CO2 will be stored permanently in geological reservoirs.
