Holcim, E.ON Energy Infrastructure Solutions and Orcan Energy have launched a large-scale WHR project at Holcim’s Dotternhausen cement plant in Germany to capture 10MW of unused heat from kiln exhaust gases. E.ON is responsible for the planning, construction, O&M and financing of the project. The heat from the kiln system will recovered by Orcan Energy’s eP1000 Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system and shall supply internal processes, potential district heating networks and power generation. The WHR system contributes to the decarbonization of the cement plant and will be operational by the end of next year. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK).
