
India’s Ambuja Cement has successfully commissioned and started power transmission from its 200 MW solar power project in Khavda. The unit is phase 1 of a 1000 MW renewable power project of the company, which aims to achieve 60% of the electricity consumption from green power and to decarbonize the value chain by FY 2028. Green power will positively impact the Company’s EBITDA with impressive 70% savings compared to current power costs. The 1 GW of renewable energy is a mix of solar and wind energy, along with 376 MW of waste heat recovery systems (WHRS) from the cement plants.
