Birla Corporation Ltd, the flagship company of India’s M P Birla Group, announced plans to strengthen its core cement business with a proposed capital expenditure of Rs 4,335 crore. The company operates four cement plants in Satna (photo), Chanderia, Durgapur and Raebareli with a combined capacity of 20 Mta. The capacity shall be raised to 27.6 Mta by FY 28-29 with new grinding units and an integrated plant. Blended cement accounted for 89% of the company’s total sales, compared to 84% in the corresponding quarter of last year.
