Sagar Cement (SCL) upgraded one of the 2 integrated production lines at the Dachepalli cement plant in Andhra Pradesh in India, with a new 6-stage ILC preheater installation, to replace the existing 4 & 5 stage SLC preheaters of the plant. The clinker production capacity will be increased from 1.85 Mta to 2.31 Mta, the cement grinding capacity from 2.25 Mta to 3.0 Mta. With the new system, electricity demand is projected to drop from 28.50 kWh to 21.00 kWh per ton of clinker, saving around 7.50 kWh per ton. Thermal energy consumption is estimated to fall from 770 kcal/kg to 710-720 kcal/kg of clinker, improving efficiency by 50-60 kcal/kg. SCL’s cement capacity will increase from 10.5 Mta to 11.3 Mta.
