UltraTech Cement commissioned the 1.0 Mta expansion of the Roorkee grinding plant, 190 km north of New Delhi in Uttarakhand, India. Roorkee is a grinding unit that has been established in 2010 with a capacity of 2.0 Mta. The clinker requirement of the plant is being met from Aditya Cement Works, Vikram Cement Works and Baga Cement Works. Gypsum is supplied from RSMM-Rajasthan and J&K, while fly ash comes from local power plants. The Roorkee expansion is part of UltraTech’s 22.6 Mta Phase 2 capacity expansion plan at a CapEx of Rs. 12,886 Crs, which -beside Roorkee- foresees an expansion of 6.3 Mta alone with 3 other projects in the central region of India.
