
UBE Mitsubishi Cement decided to stop a cement kiln at its Kyushu plant, located in Kanda, Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan by the end of 2027. The Kyushu plant is one of the largest cement production facilities (photo) in the country with about 6.6 Mta clinker and 7.2 Mta cement capacity. The shutdown shall increase the asset efficiency, strengthen the competitiveness of the cement business and increase the thermal energy substitution to reduce the carbon footprint.
