The JSW Group announced to set up an integrated steel plant, a power plant, a port facility and a cement plant at Jagatsinghpur in Odisha, India, with an investment of Rs 65,000 crore. While the steel capacity is projected with 13.2 Mta, the cement grinding plant shall have a capacity of 10.0 Mta, mainly using GBFS. The land for the project was earlier earmarked for Korean Posco, which had plans to set up a 12.0 Mta steel plant. However, the project failed to take off following massive opposition from the local community forcing Posco to withdraw in 2017 (photo: GBFS at JSW Cement’s Vijanayagar complex).
