Kenya’s Devki Group officially launched the 6000 tpd (2.0 Mta) clinker manufacturing plant of Cemtech Ltd. in Sebit, West Pokot county. The much delayed KES 45 bn (US$ 346.6 m) clinker plant will export up to 80% of its clinker to neighbouring countries Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. Mr. Narandra Raval, the Devki Group Chairman, said the project will address increased cement consumption through price reduction, thus supporting affordable housing and other infrastructure projects across East Africa.
