MACCEM Industries is planning the construction of a 0.56 Mta capacity cement grinding plant in Hastings, Freetown in Sierra Leone. Clinker for the grinding unit will be imported and transported via road to the site from the Queen Elizabeth II Quay at the Port of Freetown. The Project is located on a 10.9-acre site that already contains the company’s operational cement bagging plant (photo), with civil works for the grinding plant underway. The anticipated construction timeline for the remaining work is 12-15 months. The IFC is providing a debt financing package of up to US$ 24 million to MACCEM and its sister company Mackie Building Materials (MBM) for the construction of the project.
