MLC and Fortera plan a full-scale ReAct cement plant in USA

Fortera Redding plant 1

MLC, formerly Mississippi Lime and one of the USA’s leading lime producers, and Fortera have signed an agreement to develop the world’s first full-scale ReAct® cement plant. The plant shall have a capacity of 0.3 Mta and will use the ReCarb® technology (photo of a pilot plant, we reported here 19.06.2026) to capture CO2 emissions from the exhaust gases of MLC’s high-calcium lime production, and to convert the CO2 directly into ready-to-use cement. Accordingly, the CO2 from the stack is absorbed and mineralized and eliminates nearly 50% captured CO₂ by weight. The ReAct® cement product has been extensively third-party tested and complies with ASTM standards and can be used as standalone cement or blended with ordinary Portland cement. The two companies plan to share additional details about the project in the coming months.
