Nigeria’s Dangote plans capacity of 66.4 Mta by 2030

Nigeria’s Dangote Cement is planning to increase its regional footprint in Africa to 66.4 Mta cement production capacity by 2030. This shall be achieved through new greenfield investments and brownfield projects to upgrade existing plants. In the coming 2 years the new greenfield 6.0 Mta Itori cement plant in Nigeria (photo: existing facility in Nigeria) and a second 2.5 Mta line at the Mugher plant in Ethiopia shall be installed (we reported here 26. August). This will increase Dangote’s cement capacity from 52.0 Mta to 60.5 Mta. However, for the new plan, additional 5.9 Mta capacity needs to be installed. This shall also align with the company’s objective to reduce its carbon emissions intensity by 20% by 2030.
