The cement plant of Nova Cimangola in Angola’s Luanda region has been upgraded to produce calcined clay. The upgrade was carried out with technology supplied by Portugal-based IPIAC-NERY to achieve 0.3 Mta of calcined clay. Accordingly, the cement plant is one of the first in the world, where an existing clinker line has been converted, to produce about 1.0 Mta of LC3 cement (limestone calcined clay cement).
