Pakistan’s Maple Leaf completed the installation of a solar power project of 7.5 MW, which increased the company’s solar power capacity to 20 MW. Maple Leaf Cement, which is a subsidiary of Kohinoor Textile Mills, is the largest single cement production site in Pakistan and their kiln line 4 enhanced the clinker production capacity to 7.8 Mta. With new kiln line 4 the waste heat recovery (WHR) system will be expanded by 12 MW from 25 to 37 MW, which accounts for one-third of the company’s power mix. Furthermore, the company operates its own 40 MW cf- power plant, from imported coal. Accordingly, the company was able to avert the negative impact of the National Electric Power Regulation Authority (NEPRA) rate hikes by largely depending on its own power generation sources.
