Philcement, which is part of the Philippines PHINMA Group, will install a new cement import terminal in Davao, Mindanao by next year. This terminal will have a similar capacity as their existing terminal (photo) in the Freeport Area of Bataan in Mariveles, which has a capacity of 2.0 Mta. Philcement imports cement from its strategic partner Viet Cement and distributes it to the Mindanao market under the brand ‘Union Cement’. The existing terminal is considered to be one of the largest independent cement terminals and is operated since 2020. Earlier this year, PHINMA also sealed an agreement with Petra Cement to operate their 0.5 Mta grinding plant in Northern Mindanao.
