Poland’s Cement Ozarów is one of the pioneers in using alternative fuels in cement production. Today, in the Ozarow plant (photo) alternative fuels such as refused derived fuels (RDF) are used to a large extend for firing the kiln and calciner to safe fossil fuels and to decarbonize the cement production. However, coal dust has to be used as an additional fuel to keep the process stable. Qlar (former Schenck Process) has installed its latest Multicell-Min XR system. This system allows a precise coal dust feeding with a control range of 1:100 and lowest feed rates of 0.3 t/h. Older systems were only allowing min rates of 2.5 t/h, which is a huge advantage for the new system, to safe fuel costs and to reduce CO2 emissions.
