PPC Zimbabwe will accelerate the construction of 2 solar power plants with a combined capacity of 30 MW. PPC is the largest cement producer in the country and operates 1 integrated plant and 2 grinding plants (photo). The solar panels will be installed at the integrated Colleen Bawn cement factory and the Bulawoyo grinding unit, where 1.4 Mta cement can be produced. The project is to enhance the power supply of the plants, increase energy self-sufficiency and improve decarbonisation. The project starts 1Q 2025 and will take about 18 months for completion.
