The German Rohrdorfer Group plans to integrate a clay flash calcination plant into an integrated cement production line. Waste heat from the clinker production shall be used as a heat source for the flash calcination in the Rohrdorf cement plant (photo), close to Rosenheim in Bavaria. Due to the high innovation potential, the project is funded with € 8.65m by the German BMWK and the European Union, because of the large potential to reduce CO2 emissions. Commissioning of the pilot project shall be in spring 2025, results will be available in 2026.
