Türkiye’s Limak Cement decarbonized the Anka plant

Limak Anka Plant

The Anka plant of Limak Cement is a new benchmark for decarbonization in Türkiye. The CO2 emissions have been reduced by 80.000 annual tons. This is not a result of sophisticated CCUS technology, it has been mainly achieved by sustainability-oriented investments and measures in this year, which also decrease the production costs. These are the measures: Reduction of the clinker factor from 82% to 75% through the use of more additives. Reducing the specific energy consumption below 65 kWh/t by optimizing the ball mill and roller press grinding circuit and finally by increasing the alternative fuel utilization rate up to 60%. Innovative is only that the company tested hydrogen as alternative fuels.
