Udayapur Cement Industry Ltd. (UCIL) the only state-owned cement company in Nepal will restart operations with a new license to operate the large 73 Mt limestone quarry, which is in a distance of 23 km to the plant. The plant opened in 1987 and has a kiln capacity of 800 tpd. The kiln system and cement technology has been supplied by Onoda and Kawasaki, but was closed in Sept. 2024, due to a missing license. The cement is sold under the Gaida brand name, one of the best in Nepal.
