The short-sighted Trump administration has cancelled via the DOE awards totalling US$ 3.7bn that were announced during the Biden administration to support various carbon capture and decarbonization projects. However, the awardees may be able to appeal against it. The cancelled funding includes a pair of US$ 500m awards to Heidelberg Materials’ Mitchell project and National Cement’s project at the Californian Lebec plant (Photo). A spokesperson of Heidelberg Materials stated that the termination notice it received indicates that the decision can be appealed, and the company is considering to do so.
