In the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam’s cement and clinker exports increased +2.3% to 8.035 Mt, after 7.856 Mt in the same period last year. Large increases of 22.1% were from Bangladesh, which has become the No.1 export country with 27.6%. However, we are often asked about the cement data from Vietnam, especially those by the ‘General Statistics Office’ (GSO) of Vietnam. Be careful, if figures for May are published, even before the end of May, that the cement production figures totaled 57.5 Mt. To our knowledge this is not real, because the GSO has always included clinker exports in the cement production. Here are real figures for the year 2023: Cement production 56.621 Mta, total exports: 31.245 Mta, of which 20.312 Mta have been cement and 10.933 Mta have been clinker!
