Iraqi’s News Agency (INA) stated that 4 new cement projects will be started in the next few years, while one project has been launched with a combined cement capacity of more than 8.5 Mta. Commercial operations were launched for the 1.2 Mta Najmat Al-Samawa cement plant (photo) near Samawah, serving the construction markets in South and Middle Iraq. The projects under discussion are the Al-Arabi cement plant, the Khairat Al-Muthanna cement plant and Al-Ittihad cement plant, each one with a capacity of 6,000 tpd, as well as the 6,600 tpd Al-Samawa cement plant. All these plant locations are in the Al-Muthanna Governorate, in Iraq’s South.
