Carbon Upcycling to deploy CUT CO2 system in Canada

AshGrove Mississauga

Carbon Upcycling Technologies will deploy a first-of-its-kind commercial CUT CO2 system at Canada’s Ash Grove Mississauga cement plant, which is a CRH company. The technology will produce a high-quality cementitious material (SCM) from steel slag sourced from a nearby steel manufacturing facility, while permanently sequestering CO2 emissions from the cement kiln. The low-carbon material will be used to reduce the clinker ratio of cement at the plant, which is a one of the largest cement plants in Canada. Once operational in 2026, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to 30 000 tpy of SCMs.
