Brazil’s Cimento Planalto SA (Ciplan), which is part of the VICAT group, accelerates the transition to low-carbon cement production. The company operates 3.2 Mta cement capacity and has five distribution centers in Brazil’s central-west and southeast regions, as well as 14 concrete plants and two aggregate quarries. Ciplan utilizes calcined clay in cement production as part of their sustainability initiatives. In June this year it had been announced that concrete producer Realmix shall be acquired with a carbon footprint that is 30% smaller than conventional concrete suppliers. The acquisition is still subject to approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defence (CADE).
