
The People’s Committee of Ninh Binh province in Vietnam proposed converting about 120 hectares of protective forest to serve for limestone exploitation by the cement industry. Xuan Thien Ninh Binh Company Limited (photo) is implementing a project at the Cay Mountain quarry with an area of 64.8 hectares, entirely a protective forest. A project by Thanh Thang Cement has an area of 73.2 hectares, of which 30.95 hectares is a protective forest. The project of Xuan Thanh Cement has an area of 99.62 hectares, of which 27.92 hectares are protective forests.
